The Infinity IT-8500 is one of the newest massage chairs on the market, and is one of Infinity’s top massage chair models. I finally got a chance to use the IT-8500 for a couple days, so I put together this review to help you get a better understanding of the chair.

Massage Chair – Infinity IT-8500 Review
My first impression of the Infinity IT-8500 massage chair is that it is a really nice chair. I was very impressed with the look and quality of the chair. After sitting down, I have to say the chair is pretty comfortable. Im 6’2”, and the chair fits me nicely. The remote looked a little overwhelming at first, but after cycling through some buttons, it was actually fairly easy to use. Let’s take a quick look at some of the Infinity IT-8500’s top features.
Infinity IT-8500 Review | Auto Programs
I first started off by clicking on the auto programs. The IT-8500 has 4 auto programs to choose from: Recover, Refresh, Extend and Relax. These programs are created to provide both a relaxing and refreshing massage. The IT-8500 uses a combination of massage styles, airbag compression, zero gravity recline, as well as foot massage to deliver a customized massage. The Infinity IT-8500 definitely offers one of the her massages on the market.
Infinity IT-8500 Review | Extend Program
This is an auto program definitely worth noting. The extend program is really the stretching program, and the IT-8500 has one of the best ones that I have ever used and it is very similar to the Osaki OS-7075R’s Thai stretching program. Both the IT-8500 and OS-7075R have a unique feature in which the airbags in the shoulder region actually pin the front of the shoulders in place allowing for a nice deep stretch. This stretch program reclines back and forth, as well as the ottoman going up and down delivering a full body stretch. This is absolutely wonderful, and if you’re looking for a chair specifically for a good stretch, then you definitely need to check out this massage chair.
Infinity IT-8500 Review | Manual Massage Techniques
In addition to the auto programs, the Infinity IT-8500 massage chair has a wide variety of massage techniques to choose from. The IT-8500 has: shiatsu, kneading, knocking, tapping, combination kneading/knocking, music sync. You can cycle through these on the remote by hitting the “mode” button repeatedly. To customize your massage further, you can hit the “part” button to focus on different regions of your back, or pause the massage in a certain problem area. You can even make micro adjustments to pinpoint exact areas. Also, the airbags and foot rollers can be turned on and off during the massage, and the intensity adjusted as well. Now, that we have reviewed some of the programs and massage techniques, let’s take a look at some of the other features.
Infinity IT-8500 Review | Zero Gravity Recline
The Infinity IT-8500 has two zero gravity functions. Zero gravity, for those who have never heard of it, is when the massage chair reclines and the seat rises up about 30 degrees. This elevates the knees above the heart which promotes circulation, and increases relaxation. You can manually recline into the zero gravity position just by hitting the “Zero Gravity Button”. Hit it once for the first recline and then again for the second position. If you want to take it a step further, you can actually manually recline the chair more, and put the ottoman up, and now you’re the IT-8500’s inversion position. It’s not quite inverted, however it is one of the largest recline angles that we have seen on a massage chair.
Infinity IT-8500 Review | Airbags
The IT-8500 has a nice air massage system. It has 38 airbags that massage the neck & shoulders, hips, arms & wrists, legs and the soles of the feet. The airbags give a compression massage, which helps promote circulation of blood and lymph flow, as well as relaxation. The IT-8500 also has 3 air massage programs that target the: upper body, arms & shoulders, and legs & feet.
Infinity IT-8500 Review | Foot Rollers
Another great feature on most Infinity’s massage chairs are the foot rollers. This is a feature that we see on a handful of massage chairs, and is a necessity for some. The IT-8500 uses a three roller foot roller that massages the bottoms of your feet. This provides a nice intense massage, which is great if you’re on your feet all day. You can also adjust the intensity depending on how hard of a massage you want.
Infinity IT-8500 Review | Waist Sway
The last feature we will talk about it is the waist sway or twist function. This is where the seat actually sways back and forth. This applies a passive motion to the lower back, which helps alleviate lower back pain. This feature is only on a handful of massage chairs – the most popular one is the Inada Sogno Dreamwave.
Infinity IT-8500 Price
The Infinity IT-8500 price is $4995 and is definitely one of the best massage chairs on the market for the price at. It also makes our list of one of the best massage chairs of 2014. It offers a great deep tissue massage, as well as some unique features like stretching, foot roller massage, and a relaxing waist sway feature. This is definitely one of the top models on the market today, and another great chair from the Infinity Massage Chair team. I tried an Infinity massage chair today and felt absolutely wonderful. However, wonderful leads to wonder about how long the chair will continue to do these great massages. Do we know the materials used for the 38 air bags? How long does that material last?
Hi Bill,
Thank you for asking about the Infinity It-8500. The upholstery for most of the chair is made from a soft synthetic leather. It’s very comfortable and with normal use will last the lifetime of the chair. Where the arms and feet go the fabric is different and more of a cloth or polyester. It’s a synthetic material that will also last the lifetime of the chair, which is 8-10 years. The airbags are also made out of a highly durable plastic material that is made to expand and contract. They are actually designed to handle a very large amount of pressure, more so than you would ever experience using the chair normally. We hope that helps!

I was reading your website and found it helpful. I wanted your opinion on something. I recently tried the Inada Sogno Dream Wave as I have an older Inada massage chair currently. I require very deep tissue massage in my neck and shoulders and also found the Dream wave to be lacking. It offers the same pressure as my 10 year old Inada chair. The money is not an issue for me as I am willing to pay for the right chair. Can you tell me which chair, in your opinion, offers the amount of body coverage of the Dream Wave with a whole lot of upper body pressure?
Hi Mike,
That is a great question. We have received similar feedback about the Inada. One of the stronger massage chairs we know about is the Infinity It-8500. It has a very deep tissue roller and can target the neck and shoulders very well. We also know of a chair called the Johnson J6800 which has a great massage roller and is very easy to control the 3D massage settings. Now a personal favorite of mine is the Panasonic EP-MA70 which has one of the most advance massage rollers I have ever used. It is very high quality, has special settings for the neck and shoulders. The only thing is it is a smaller chair and fits people from 5 foot to around 6 foot. The one thing with the Inada is it has a very unique airbag system that covers a large amount of the body. For a similar airbag system you can check out the Luraco iRobotics 6S, but it doesn’t have adjustments for the massage roller. Those are a few options and we suggest contacting our friends at Emassagechair.com to help narrow it down further. They’ve always been super helpful with us.
